The Ridgefield volleyball team carried the momentum of their district championship into the 2A state tournament, advancing to the semifinals in dominant fashion at Saint Martin’s University last weekend.

Their first two matches came on Friday. In the first round, they dispatched Washington 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-12). It was more of the same in the second round, the quarterfinals, with another 3-1 win (25-21, 25-19, 25-16) over Sehome.

In the semifinals on Saturday, they lost to Lynden 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21), then beat White River 3-1 (21-25, 30-28, 25-23, 25-20) soon after to finish third.

The best they could finish from here was fifth, so that’s just what they did, with a 3-0 win (25-15, 25-20, 25-16) over Stanwood then another 3-0 win over Ferndale (25-23, 25-23, 25-18).
