Woodland boys soccer beat Sequim tonight 3-2 in the first round of the 2A State Soccer Championship at Peninsula College. Jackson Finn scored all three goals for the Beavers with three assists from Jesse Thrall. Woodland will next play Sehome at 1 p.m. on May 18 at Western Washington University in the quarterfinals.

The win marks the first time Woodland boys soccer has advanced to the state quarterfinals in school history.

Columbia River, who beat the Beavers 3-0 in the district championship on May 9, also advanced to the second round last night, beating Foss 3-1. The Chieftains, who haven’t lost yet this season, are on the opposite end of the draw from the Beavers, potentially setting up a rematch in the finals.
