BG Library hosting Senior Social event each month

On Jan. 7, the Battle Ground Community Library hosted its first Senior Social event from 9-10 a.m., at the library located at 1207 SE 8th Way, Battle Ground.

Kimberly McNally, librarian at the Battle Ground Library, said they had three attendees for the first event on Jan. 7. The Senior Social is a time for seniors age 55 and older to come to the library and learn about and utilize library resources, or simply visit with others. Library staff are available to answer any questions during this time, and snacks are provided.

McNally said library staff present during the Senior Social time are there to help patrons with anything, including help with setting up social media, which they did with visitors during the Jan. 7 event. The Senior Social program has been held in the past at the Battle Ground Library, and McNally said that with the aging population in Clark County it felt like a good time to try it again.

“I think people really appreciate having quiet time to ask questions, use the computer and get specific help they may not feel comfortable asking for when the library is busy,” McNally said.

The Battle Ground Library will continue to hold the Senior Social event on the first Wednesday of each month from 9-10 a.m.
