Gov. Jay Inslee earlier this month said that if a new Interstate 5 bridge is to be built, Southwest Washington needs to compromise with Oregon by allowing it to feature light rail — otherwise it won’t get done. Do you believe this is a fair compromise to finally get the project moving?

Clark County now has only two bridges to and from Portland. After Oregon cooperates in building a third bridge then discussion regarding replacing or repairing the I-5 crossing, with or without light rail, will make sense. Not before.

In a house with only two doors it is not wise to make one of them usable during a long term remodel--while people are still living in the house--before you open another door. Nobody needs to be either an architect or a traffic engineer to understand that.
