Boldt is great man who can see both sides of an issue

As mother-in-law of K.J. (Kelly) Hinton and Marc Boldt, I can’t stay silent against Kelly’s attempts to discredit Marc. If you’re a parent of two adult children, that you love dearly, I’m sure you can feel my dilemma here.

Unfortunately, Kelly is in cahoots with David Madore because David has not yet done something that Kelly doesn’t like. Marc did and is now the recipient of hate dialog from Kelly, just like Ann Rivers now is.

The recent Liz Pike flier attempts to lump Boldt and Mike Dalesandro into one category, and is filled with false information.

It claims both support park fees. Marc never said that. However, when we had park fees there was at least electricity out at Lewisville Park and toilet paper in the bathrooms. It claims both support tolls and light rail. Delasandro does. Marc Boldt clearly stated the feds should build the bridge without tolling us. He made sure light rail went to the voters.

It claims that both support bringing back impact fees. Again a lie twisting the truth. Marc has stated that he wants to be sure homebuilders, one of our largest industries, are not carrying the financial burden. It claims both are opposed to an alternative plan for the rights of property owners. Marc is opposed to the lawsuits if the council goes against the Growth Management Act in their long-range plans. He wants the council to follow the Planning Commission’s recommendation and find solutions for residents.

It claims that he voted to raise property taxes six times in six years. It fails to tell you that he didn’t raise taxes two times in two consecutive years and that had never been done before. We were the only county to not raise taxes those years.

It claims he voted to confiscate firearms in a Katrina emergency. Firearms could only be confiscated during an emergency if you were carrying them out in public. He followed the direction that every county board in the state followed after Katrina, when the governor wrote her executive order to do so. He brought it back to a hearing and he and Tom Mielke voted together against Steve Stuart to strike that language in that ordinance. He made a mistake. Rather than walk away, he owned it and he fixed it.

Marc is a great man who can see both sides of an issue and bring it to resolution. That is how government should get things done.
