An explanation for voter apathy

Posted

This last week’s paper (The Reflector, Nov. 11, 2015) had plenty of elections results covering the candidates but no mention of the passage of initiative 1366 and the advisory votes for passages of taxes without the consent of the voters, 5987 and 6138.

At least we were “allowed” to vote on 1449 and 1552.

What’s this, the third initiative to be passed in recent years that demands voter approval for tax increases which has been ignored or circumvented by the legislature? Consider the fact there was 38 percent voter turnout, which equals 62 percent voter disenfranchisement.

There is enough material there for several full page editorials.
