Letter writer correct in assessment of Reflector change

Posted

Mel Cearley’s letter to the editor regarding Ken Vance’s dismissal was dead nuts on.

I couldn’t agree more. In the tradition of Marvin Case, Ken brought standout journalism to The Reflector, which apparently cost him his job.

I too believe outside pressure was surely the reason.

People don’t like it when expose’ articles are written about them, or their agenda.

Those who have any community influence will use their position to strong arm any source that generates public information, be it a TV station or newspaper. The Reflector has apparently succumbed to this arm twist. I only hope Mel’s offer to start up a rival newspaper comes to fruition.

In the meantime, I’ll just toss my copy of The Reflector in the garbage when it arrives in my driveway.
