Explanation offered about Clark County Citizens United

In light of recent articles in The Reflector, I am writing to explain who and what is Clark County Citizens United, Inc., as some folks may not be familiar with the organization.

Clark County Citizens United, Inc. is a grassroots nonprofit 501(c4) Corporation with a Board of Directors and bylaws.  It was established on Nov. 28, 1994, in response to a massive down zoning of Clark County rural and resource land.  In Article III of the Incorporation, the purpose is "To promote reasonable and appropriate land use planning in Clark County in order to maintain a high quality of life for our citizens while preserving and protecting private property rights."

The 17-member Board consists of civil engineers, electrical engineers, foresters, farmers, developers, landowners, realtors, a doctor and an attorney.  Since 1994, CCCU, Inc. has actively worked to protect the rights of landowners and speaks in the public forum on their behalf.

The organization has a membership following of approximately 6,000 taxpayers from rural and urban areas.  Just as the Building Industry Association and the Board of Realtors represent their constituents, CCCU, Inc. functions in the same way.

President Susan Rasmussen and Secretary Carol Levanen attend meetings and hearings to give testimony on behalf of the membership, while Nick Redinger serves as vice president and Rita Deitrich serves as treasurer.

CCCU, Inc. has recently become very active in response to the 2016 update of the Clark County Comprehensive Land Use Plan.  Our goal is to achieve reasonable policies and return certain rights that landowners lost in 1994.

CCCU, Inc. can be contacted by phone at (360) 667-0516; by email at cccuinc@yahoo.com; on Facebook.com at Clark County Citizens United or by mail at P.O,. Box 2188, Battle Ground, WA. 98604.
