Parks aren’t ours unless we pay the fee to use them

I saw a lot of online ads recently for Liz Pike’s write-in campaign. One statement in particular has me going: “They both (Pike’s opponents Mike Dalesandro and Marc Boldt) want to take money from single mothers and hard working parents every time they want to take their children to one of our parks!”

They are not our parks unless we pay the small fee for them when we visit. If we cut off funding for our parks, they will fall into disrepair. If the answer is to privatize them, well then private interests will come in, gladly buy the assets and then charge a fee to recoup the investment. In that scenario, the parks will no longer be ours or free.
