Thanks to the Little League coaches and managers

Posted

I would like to express my thanks to the Battle Ground Little League coaches and managers. I have two grandsons on two different teams, both of these coaches and managers are excellent role models and have a great knowledge of the game.

Most of the parents do not realize, how much time is involved in coaching a team. You have to umpire games, go to meetings, pick up t shirts, pick up equipment, plan the batting lineup, figure pitching schedules, chalk the field before each game, pick up bases and rake the field after each game, schedule practices, find fields to use during practice, and try to be constructive rather than criticize.

Most of these volunteers have jobs, working more than 40 hours a week. Some have other kids and spouses. Little League is more than just playing ball. The top priority is the kids, and I have heard many times the coaches and managers yell out, “just have fun.”

Last of all thanks to the parents who get their kids to practices and games.
