Battle Ground school bond defeat: No means no

Posted

Battle Ground taxpayers are being slapped in the face with a return of the notorious multi-million dollar school bond to be added to their burdens.

It is as if the election didn't matter and here it comes again in April 24 hoping the monster $225 million bond somehow passes. Voters voted a loud no but those that beat the drums and send out bludgeoning phone calls think they didn't realize what they were doing and will now vote properly.

House taxes are up 12 percent, 17 percent even 20 percent and higher with no way to pay the increases. The burdens of trying to hold on to a house begin to stretch and bite into vitals like food, utility bills, medical care. The school superintendent should tell his minions that limits have been reached and there’s no more money to take from the people and if that falls short, the whole lot of school personnel including the superintendent should be replaced.

Schools should understand the idea of a budget applies to them. It’s no longer a pay what we want and what is demanded. Remodeling and rehabbing and expanding existing facilities is an acceptable choice. People have limits in giving up their money which is really their lives.
