She won’t vote for tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the poor and middle class causing huge budget deficits that could force severe cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
She won’t vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act over 40 times or to end protections for pre-existing conditions, but she will vote to build upon and strengthen the ACA with common sense improvements.
She won’t vote for a Farm Bill that cuts food stamps for SNAP recipients.
She won’t vote for a rollback of Dodd-Frank, or measures that weaken the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
She won’t vote for concealed carry reciprocity laws that take away constitutionally protected state’s rights, but she will vote for sensible gun control laws that voters want.
She won’t constantly vote for legislation that hurts the environment and impact clean air and water.
She won’t vote for laws that sell our public lands and strip law enforcement functions essential to the protection of these lands.
She will not hide from her constituents using sham telephone town halls, but rather conduct in person town halls where folks can ask questions and not be screened out of the conversation.
Carolyn Long will be fighting every day for the district, promoting a people, not politics, approach to governance.
