Donald Trump is making a mockery of America and American values. He wants us to get rid of immigrants. Yet, America is a country built on immigrants. Should we kick out any people whose ancestors were not born here? My Native American friends would be very pleased.
Trump also wants us to refuse asylum to Muslim refugees. Our country was established on the principle of religious freedom. The first Europeans who came here were religious refugees. We have always welcomed refugees. Do we want to be the kind of people who slam the door on the needy? I think not.
Trump also believes that the rich should keep all their “hard earned” money, and that riches will trickle down. He has a personal wealth of $4 billion and wants to keep his hard earned money – but hires staff in his hotels at $9 per hour and less. It does not seem to me that his riches trickle down very far.
A country for rich white people, no immigrants, no compassion for refugees, and no pay equity, is not the kind of country I, or most of the people I know, would find acceptable. Go away, Donald Trump. Stop making people angry and tarnishing the reputation of the United States.
