Ridgefield’s ‘Economic Catalyst Program’ would bring unwanted growth

The city of Ridgefield is rushing to create an "Economic Catalyst Program" to encourage even more development in the city.

It is on the cusp of enacting, apparently without formal study or analysis, a giveaway of public funds to subsidize more development. The ordinance would give wide latitude to an unelected city official to waive development fees, such as land use, building inspection and other related-fees, in the interest of "economic growth."

Ridgefield city schools are already severely overcrowded due to unchecked growth, and its citizens are facing another bond fund drive to cope with the overcrowding. Ridgefield needs to slow down and let the city absorb its enormous growth without fueling the flames of further development.
