Please vote yes for Ridgefield schools

“Didn’t my taxes just go up?”

Yes, your property taxes went up because the formula for countywide valuation increased.

“Didn’t we just have a bond?”

Yes, we just had a bond in 2017. We were able to build the new middle and intermediate school to solve a much-needed crowding problem. Thank you Ridgefield voters for passing it.

“Why should I vote for another increase in my taxes?”

Everyone can see the expansion in Ridgefield today. Families are moving here because of the high quality of our schools, and we still need to solve an ongoing crowding problem in our schools. This bond will allow us to build a new K-4 school and improve the high school. The cost is only 9 cents per $1,000 of assessed value. So, for an increase of less than 0.01 percent, a home of worth $400,000 is only paying $36 per year. For $36 we can get a new K-4 elementary school, new and upgraded classroom facilities and systems at the high school, covered play areas, and security upgrades throughout the Ridgefield district.

“I don’t have children in the schools, so why should I support the bond?”

I also do not have children in the Ridgefield schools, but I support the schools because an educated community improves the community and promotes cooperation.

We can now cooperate to improve our schools, and I know you will vote yes on the 2019 bond!
