An American angel lives in Battle Ground

Posted

It isn’t often that I’m surprised and somewhat overwhelmed like I was on the evening of May 30th of this year.

My grade school/high school buddy is here to attend the memorial service for a good friend of ours. Gary, my friend, enjoys a Chinese Restaurant in Battle Ground, so that’s where we went for dinner.

As we pulled into the parking lot, a white Chevy Suburban driven by this lady angel was pulling out. She waited for us to get into our parking spot before she pulled out.

As the two of us walked by her truck, our angel noticed my “Vietnam Era Veterans” hat that I was wearing. The angel stopped, rolled down her window and said, “Sir, thank you so much for your service.” I said, “Thanks for saying that.”

I quickly told her my Buddy is also a Vietnam era veteran and was a door gunner in a helicopter during his tour. The angel then thanked both of us.

We were about to walk into the restaurant when we heard the angel say, “Hey guys, wait a minute. Come Here.”

We walked up to her truck and she handed us a $20 and said, “dinner is on me.” We tried to give the money back but she drove away as we said thank you.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is an angel in Battle Ground!
