Like many people, I often wonder where my tax dollars go.
The Battle Ground Library is due to be closed for three whole weeks soon, and I was told this is to replace the carpet, furniture, and paint the place.
I walked around the entire building and was unable to notice any obvious carpet wear anywhere except in one tiny spot by the main door. The carpet appeared to be nearly new in fact. A librarian informed me that the carpet was 10 years old.
They are also replacing furniture which I have sat in many times without noticing any wear or defect of any kind whatever.
The paint appears pristine as well.
The carpet in my house is a lot older than 10 so I suppose I should have it replaced immediately.
I hope the Battle Ground schools are not using our tax dollars in the same way.
