Slow down on Lewis River Road in Cougar

Posted

I have been living in Cougar since April 28, 2004. I have seen animals get killed trying to cross Lewis River Road from our home that sits in front of woods, just off of Lewis River Road. The 25 mph sign is just past our driveway.

Every year I've see more deer laying on the side of the road, in front of our house's driveway and along Lewis River Road, going through our little town.

Coming into town, the speed limit sign is 25 mph, but no one slows down. I wish they would put speed bumps on the road or rig up a camera to take a picture showing the vehicles’s speed and license number. Post signs showing animal crossing.

I buried my beautiful cat this morning. She got hit crossing Lewis River Road. She might not have been hit if the driver had slowed down. Most of the vehicles are speeding 60 mph or more coming into town.

Our area has RV parks, camping, a small resort and two gas stations. During the summer there is lots of traffic, families and children with their animals walking on Lewis River Road, but vehicles still do not slow down. Wouldn’t it be horrible if you and your family were crossing Lewis River Road and got hit?

People slow down.
