Off to a new adventure

Fourteen years ago this month I decided it was time for a career change. I’d been working for a large health care company in Portland and I wanted to work in Battle Ground, the community I lived in. Plus, I hated the commute. Lucky for me, The Reflector was looking for a part-time employee and I was hired by Marvin Case. He offered me the position of sales representative for Battle Ground and half joking said, “you have to stay here for at least five years or until I retire.”

A lot has changed in the last 14 years: Marvin Case sold The Reflector to Lafromboise Communications, we gained and lost employees, moved to a new location, changed the size and look of the newspaper and the list goes on. Personally, I advanced from part-time sales representative to my current position as publisher. Along the way I’ve met, talked to and worked with some amazing business owners, community members, readers and co-workers.

There were readers who challenged me to take a step back every now and then, evaluate situations, topics, and myself which I appreciated greatly. They made me a stronger publisher and person.

Just like I did 14 years ago, I’ve decided it’s time to change my career path, learn something new and continue giving back to the community. A local business has offered me an opportunity that I am excited for. So, with tears in my eyes, June 8 will be my last day at The Reflector.

With the strong leadership of Owner Jenifer Lafromboise-Falcone, President Michael Wagar, Editor Jonathan Haukaas and all of the valuable employees and carriers, I know that The Reflector will continue to thrive.

Since 1909 The Reflector has stood strong through various owners, economic roller coasters, reorganizations, and so much more. The one constant has always been, and will continue to be, sharing local news, sports and community topics with the readers.

I love what The Reflector provides to the community and I’ve been honored to be a part of it.

Thank you for a great 14 years and I will miss you all!
