Earlier in the year, I ran against Dan Swecker as a candidate for Washington State Senate District 20. I was running against Dan, not because I felt he was doing a bad job, but because I felt our agendas were very different. He is very business and government savvy, but I felt he lacked social services knowledge, which is a crucial piece with our difficult economy.
The primary election eliminated me, but I am pleased to say that as a result of my candidacy, we have become acquainted, and Senator Swecker will be consulting me about social service ideas that I spoke about during the time I was in the race.
I have every confidence that Dan will continue to be our senator, as the people in this district have seen that serving several terms consecutively does not always make one a career politician in a negative sense. Dan has connections in the community, and has done a great job with the programs where he has put his focus. I believe that the fact that he has asked me to come to Olympia and speak with him about social issues is a reflection of the fact that he wants to learn where he can be more effective.
I publicly give Senator Swecker my support, and will be voting for him in the November election.
