Urge Councilors to support Clark County Conservation District

Posted

In the interest of preserving Clark County’s quality of life as we know it for our ourselves, our children and to continue to attract the talent that will feed smart growth in this county, please connect with your County Councilor to encourage them to consider a minimal rate proposal ($5 per parcel of land per year) that will preserve the services offered by the Clark Conservation District.

These services include any activity that serves to conserve natural resources, such as helping private landowners with permitting assistance, financial assistance for stormwater practices, septic system assistance, wetland restoration, the maintenance of parks and trail systems, stream restoration, small and large acreage livestock and natural resource technical assistance and more.

The Clark Conservation District has been serving us and our land for decades. These services and more will no longer exist in Clark County if this rate proposal is not implemented by the County Council. Fifteen other counties in the state of Washington have successfully implemented this very small rate to keep these benefits available.

Conservation districts are not regulatory agencies and do not enforce; they offer services without charge to residents; they are able to work on private lands, directly for the landowner, unlike county and city governments; they respond to local needs, not to the mandate of government.

Please email your Councilor today or contact Chairman Marc Boldt with your support for the County Councilors to give this proposal positive consideration. More information can be found on the Clark Conservation District website.
