An endorsement for Mavis Nickels for Battle Ground School Board

Posted

I would like to recommend the re-election of incumbent Mavis Nickels to the position of Battle Ground School Board director, District 4. Ms. Nickels is nearing the end of a successful term as District 4 director and has worked tirelessly to improve the education of the district’s students.

Mavis Nickels taught mathematics in the Battle Ground Public Schools for 23 years and understands the needs of both students and faculty. She was the math and science department head at Prairie High School and served on the Washington State Mathematics Commission. After retirement, she volunteered as a teacher mentor and as a consultant coordinator for student assessment for 10 years.

As a former student of Ms. Nickels, I can personally attest to her commitment to students and education. Of the many teachers I had from elementary school through graduate school, Ms. Nickels was by far the best. Her love of teaching was evident in everything she did. She strove to ensure that every student had the opportunity to learn in his or her own way, and instilled confidence in those who doubted their abilities. She stayed after school to tutor those students, such as myself, who asked for help.

Please re-elect Mavis Nickels to the Battle Ground Public Schools’ Board of Directors so that the community can continue to benefit from her experience and dedication.
