Famed conservative filmmaker coming to Cowlitz County

A notable conservative filmmaker will headline the Cowlitz County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.

The party has announced Dinesh D’Souza will speak at the annual event on May 4 at the Cowlitz County Event Center.

Born in India, D’Souza came to the United States as an exchange student when he was 18, eventually earning a degree from Dartmouth College.

The Cowlitz County Republicans release said that D’Souza has been called one of the “top young public-policy makers in the country.” He has several New York Times bestselling books and has appeared on nationally syndicated shows and network TV.

But D’Souza really came to fame for his filmmaking.

His most famous are 2012’s  “2016: Obama’s America,” 2014’s  “America: Imagine the World Without Her,” 2016’s  “Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party” and most recently 2018’s “Death of a Nation.”

D’Souza hasn’t gained notoriety for just his filmmaking, however. He was recipient of a full presidential pardon by President Donald Trump in 2018. D’Souza had previously pled guilty to campaign finance law charges in 2014 — he was indicted earlier that year on allegations that he illegally contributed to a 2012 U.S. Senate campaign.
