Young entrepreneur starts auto detailing business

One thing that encourages 17-year-old Battle Ground resident Ethan Epp to continuously take good care of his vehicle, a small Chevy pickup S-10, is the fact that he just started his own auto detailing business.

Epp, who is the grandson of Battle Ground resident Landis Epp and nephew of Brian Epp, started his business, Night to Day Auto Detailing, about three months ago. The business is completely licensed and insured and Epp said he is capable of doing any type of auto detailing work needed.

Auto detailing consists of thorough cleaning, restoration and finishing of an automobile, both inside and out, to produce a show-quality level of detail.

“I’ve mostly been doing work for friends and family right now,” Epp said. “I’ve done everything on their cars … waxing and polishing and everything inside the cab. Everybody tells me that it looks better afterwards than when they bought it brand new.”

During the past two to three years especially, Epp said he started to love being able to take a vehicle and make it look “show quality.”

“I really enjoy the ‘before and after’ effect of that,” he said.

Epp said that to do everything as far as auto detailing goes on a mid-size vehicle usually takes him about five hours. He said he came up with the name of his business, Night to Day Auto Detailing, because he likes names that have double meanings and he wants people to know that when he details a person’s car, it’s going to be a “Night to Day” difference.

As far as pricing is concerned, Epp said that really depends on what the customer wants. He said he will set up a customized package for any customer and give them a price for whatever is important to them.

Epp is currently a junior and is home-schooled. After his high school education, he said he plans to attend the Perry Technical Institute in Yakima. Epp plans to take a two-year course at the Perry Institute in Instrumentation & Industrial Automation Technology. Instrument
