Fundraisers

CASINO NIGHT FUNDRAISER, a fundraiser for The Arc of Southwest Washington, will be Thu., July 2, 6-9 p.m., at The Prairie Bar and Grill, 14925 NE Caples Rd., Brush Prairie. All proceeds will be devoted to serving people who experience a developmental disability in the area community. Craps, roulette, Texas Hold'em and Blackjack. Prizes available from $20-$350. NORTH CLARK HISTORICAL Museum New and Used Book Sale will be Sat.-Sun., July 4-5, noon-4 p.m., at the museum, 21416 NE 399th St., Amboy. Soft and hardback books, unlimited choice. Prices range from 25 cents to $1. Some new books, donated by area authors, priced as marked. Proceeds benefit museum maintenance and development. FALCON SHOOTING & OFFENSIVE MOVES Basketball Clinic: Shooters are made not born. Fourth-ninth grade boys and girls work on warm-up techniques, basics of the shot, shooting routine, shooting drills, shot evaluation, and also teach players to shoot game shots at game spots and at game speed. PHS head coach Kyle Brooks and his staff will direct the clinic along with several current and/or alumni players. Held July 7-9 at PHS, 9-11:30 a.m., cost is $99. FALCON JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL CAMP: For ages 9-14. This volleyball camp focuses on improving individual skills and technique through the use of a variety of progression drills and learning situations. Players are divided first by age and then by skill level to maximize the learning potential for each camper. They emphasize instruction and repetition in a positive environment with experienced and successful adult coaches teaching on every court. Prairie High School volleyball players are assistant coaches and mentors throughout the week. Held July 13-15 at PHS, 9 a.m.-noon, cost is $75. ANIMAL ART DRAWING & Painting Camp: For ages 7-12. Draw and paint realistic and fantasy animals using different mediums and sources. Learn techniques through different projects. Garden

ART IN THE GARDEN event will be held Sun., July 12, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Wildlife Botanical Gardens at the CASEE Center, 11000 NE 149th St., Brush Prairie. The Wildlife Botanical Gardens are at their best, and a perfect backdrop to feature local artisans and their art mediums. Experience the gardens, visit local artisans booths, enjoy live music, artist demonstrations and Master Composter/Recycler demonstrations. VETERANS LUNCH will be Sat., July 18, 1 p.m., at Hockinson Cafe, 219 NE 20th Ave., Battle Ground. AMBOY, YACOLT and Chelatchie Schools Reunion and Old Timers’ Picnic will be Fri., July 31, 10 a.m. to start gathering, lunch at 12:30 p.m., at Amboy Community Park. Bring a potluck dish of your choice. Disposable plates, cups, forks and coffee will be furnished. Bring old school pictures to share. Plan on visiting the North Clark Historical Museum while you’re here. It is suggested that each person attending the picnic plan to make a small donation to help cover costs for mailing, coffee, utensils and other items.
