Chelatchie Prairie Christmas trains back on track

Holiday train rides on the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad are back in action following a legal quandary that held up operations last weekend.

Train ride operators BYCX announced today that the planned train rides at noon and 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 16 would still happen.

Planned trips on Dec. 8 and 9 had been canceled after the operators of the railroad itself, Portland Vancouver Junction Railroad (PVJR), restricted use of the railroad late last week.

According to a release from PVJR, there was a dispute over a lease agreement it had with the railroad’s owners, Clark County, which led to the restriction.

In a statement posted to PVJR’s Facebook page, BYCX president Randy Williams said it was an issue with the event operator’s insurance policy that led to the restriction. That issue has been cleared up, allowing for the rides to continue.

In BYCX’s announcement, the group noted it had added four additional trips at noon and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and 23. Reservations may be made at bycx.com.
