Council hearings to be held at different times in March and April

The Clark County Council is moving more of its hearings to the evening in March and April.

The county has announced that on the third Tuesday of those months it will have its weekly hearing at 6 p.m. This is in addition to the first Tuesday of every month meeting, which is also held at 6 p.m.

Most other hearings the county has are at 10 a.m. All of the meetings are conducted in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center at 1300 Franklin St. in Vancouver.

According to the county announcement, the goal of more evening hearings was to boost public involvement given that many people work when the morning hearings take place. The announcement also says the change works “to more fully embrace the change in the role of the councilors as called for in the county charter.”

“This will be a trial period to see how the new schedule works,” Council Chair Eileen Quiring said in the announcement. After April the council will evaluate if they will stick with the schedule.

The council’s other weekly meeting, known as “council time,” will remain at 12:30 p.m., Wednesdays, according to the announcement. Most council work sessions also will continue to be scheduled on Wednesday mornings.

Information about council meeting schedules and documents are available on the county website: clark.wa.gov/council-meetings.
