Memorial Day gathering to be held at Woodland War Memorial

MEMORIAL DAY, formerly known as Decoration Day, is for remembering the people who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. A day recognized back to the Civil War. This Memorial Day, the public is invited Mon., May 25, at 11 a.m. to join a gathering at the Woodland War Memorial located at Hoffman Plaza in downtown Woodland across from the Fire Station. Boy Scout Troop 531 will present the American Flag. This year’s guest speakers include retired First Sergeant Judy Leu and Colonel H. Charles Hodges, Jr., Joint Base Commander, Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Immediately following, light refreshments will be served at the VFW Post 1927 at 434 Davidson Avenue, Woodland.
