YWCA Clark County is calling on all individuals to join the organization in taking a Stand Against Racism on Thursday, April 26, as a part in a national movement designed to unite communities with the common goal of ending racism.
Hosted by the Women’s Leadership Center of YWCA Clark County, the event brings a panel of state representatives and candidates from Oregon and Washington to Vancouver to discuss the importance of full engagement for women and girls of color in the political process.
“Despite outpacing other groups in college education, leading social progress in their communities, and often being the primary breadwinner in their households, women of color are consistently underrepresented in positions of leadership. We hope this event will inspire others and provide helpful tools for our community to change that.” said event organizer Angela Westbrooks.
From Thursday through Sunday, events are anticipated in nearly every state across the country including public policy advocacy, community education, and public proclamations.

Tawna Sanchez, Oregon 43rd District Representative
Monica Stonier, Washington 49th District Representative
