Chester C. Hu, a physician, was charged with unprofessional conduct by the Medical Commission. The charges allege that Hu administered anesthetic to a 4-year-old boy with developmental delays. After the dental procedure the boy developed complications and died. Hu is alleged to have put the patient at grievous risk of harm and contributed to his death after he failed to use appropriate monitoring equipment and neglected to assign an appropriately trained and credentialed person to continuously monitor the patient.

Kate Vernier-Fabian, a certified nursing assistant, had her credential suspended for at least five years by the Secretary of Health after she was found to have forged checks belonging to a patient for a total of $20,285 and deposited them into her bank accounts. DSHS determined that Vernier-Fabian financially exploited a vulnerable adult and she is banished from being employed in caring for or having unsupervised access to vulnerable adults.

Linda Roses Burgins, a licensed practical nurse, had her credential indefinitely suspended by the Nursing Commission after she failed to follow a physician’s order regarding injecting a patient with insulin. DSHS has prohibited Burgins from working in a position that gives her unsupervised access to vulnerable adults.

Riza Salona Verry, a certified nursing assistant, was charged with unprofessional conduct and had her credential immediately suspended by the Nursing Assistant Program. Verry was found to have financially exploited a vulnerable adult in her care and DSHS will no longer allow her to be employed in caring for or having unsupervised access to vulnerable adults.
