Board seeks applicants for Public Facilities District vacancy

The Board of County Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill an unexpired term on the Public Facilities District board of directors. The term expires Dec. 31, 2014.

The board’s duties relate to administration of the Public Facilities District (PFD) created by the Board of County Commissioners in 2002. The district participates in the development of regional centers, including the convention center in Vancouver and exhibition hall at the Clark County Fairgrounds.

Board members are paid $50 per day while attending meetings. Regular board meetings are held at 4 p.m. the first Monday of February, May, August and November at the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

The commissioners are seeking applicants with experience in: the tourism industry; marketing, events and promotion; hotels and convention centers; facility operations and finance; economic development; and general knowledge about Clark County.

Application deadline is 5 p.m. Wed., Aug. 13.

The Public Facilities District position became vacant in April with the death of retired electrician Philip Parker of Battle Ground.
