BG school district seeks feedback on 3 boundary change options

Students, parents and community members living in the Battle Ground School District have the opportunity to learn about and weigh in on three options that the district says will help alleviate overcrowding by changing primary and middle school boundaries in the district.

District administrators will present the boundary change options and answer questions at each forum. Attendees will be able to examine each option and provide feedback through an online survey. Those who are unable to attend these forums can review the options on the district website and fill out the survey at battlegroundps.org.

After six weeks of visiting schools, brainstorming ideas and producing an eight-page report, the 29-member Battle Ground Public Schools Overcrowding Advisory Committee comprising  parents, community members, and staff presented four recommendations to the Board of Directors during the Nov. 5 school board meeting.

The board reviewed these recommendations, made minor revisions during a Nov. 19 work session and then voted Nov. 26 to move forward with three of the options: southern shift, Maple Grove K-4 conversation, and N.E.W. Boundaries.

Superintendent Mark Ross said the final vote on boundary changes could take place at the board meetings scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 14 or Jan. 28 at the Lewisville Campus. The new boundaries would become official in the fall of 2019.
