Clark County wineries are continuing to flourish, allowing them to establish a strong foothold in the wine industry by providing area residents and visitors the opportunity to taste some sophisticated and award-winning wines.
Many of the winemakers use grapes from outside the area – typically from Eastern Washington – as those areas provide a drier climate for growing. However, some winemakers grow their own grapes locally. These differences in the growing conditions and also the different varieties of grapes allow for a distinctive variance in the taste of their wines.
Many of the wineries also provide inviting venues for not only tastings but for events such as weddings and parties.
Clark County residents are also fortunate to have quality produce stands and farmers markets in the area that provide a wide variety of fresh, seasonal produce. These stands are becoming the go-to place for the freshest produce around – from the field to the table in hours. They provide locally raised food and organic farm products such as fresh produce, flowers, jams and honey. While most stands are seasonal and open only during the warmer months, some stands are open year-round.

Profile: Stavalaura is a small-batch, family owned and operated vineyard and winery nestled outside of Ridgefield. All of their current wines are crafted from grapes grown on the Stavalaura Vineyards estate. Our varietals include Zweigelt, an Austrian grape, which is now the most widely grown red grape variety in that country (as of 2014, Washington state had only several small plantings – no more than a few acres), and Golubok, a grape sourced from Southern Russia and Northern Ukraine, which Stavalaura Vineyards and Winery introduced to Clark County. Golubok is a unique grape with full body and gorgeous depth of color. They also grow the more familiar, Pinot Noir (777 and Pommard clones). Come enjoy their wines on a refreshing back patio surrounded by vines.
