Hockinson names new superintendent

The new superintendent for the Hockinson School District won’t have to make too much of a move as a current Camas district administrator has been selected to fill the position next school year.

The Hockinson School District Board of Directors announced the selection of Steve Marshall to be the new district head last week. He currently serves as director of Educational Resources at Camas School District.

Marshall was selected from four finalists following a series of interviews and a community forum March 4. According to the district, the details of the contract are still being formalized and the board hopes to approve the final agreement during their March 25 meeting.

“The Board is thrilled with the selection of Steve Marshall and thankful for the community’s and staff’s enthusiastic and significant participation in the interview process,” school board chair Dave Olson said in the announcement.

Marshall will replace outgoing superintendent Sandra Yager who will take the helm of Cornerstone Christian Academy next year. Marshall is expected to start as Hockinson head July 1.
