Shop BG: Heisen House Vineyard offers holiday specials

During the holiday season, egg nog and champagne are usually considered the traditional way to bring about some extra cheer. For Battle Ground’s Heisen House Vineyards, though, there’s never a bad time for a bottle of wine.

Since opening Memorial Day of 2010, owner Michelle Bloomquist’s goal has been to bring high quality, hand-crafted wines to the area. Bloomquist said there’s no shortage of stocking-stuffers or other fun gifts for the wine conoisseur in your life.

“We have several reds and white wines ranging in price from $22-29, including merlot, cab franc, sangiovese, muscat and rose,” said Bloomquist. “For anyone looking to buy multiple bottles, we also have our discount through our wine club. Buying three or more bottles can get 15 percent off the total.”

Having wine means having wine glasses and Heisen House provides both logo-embossed glasses for $5, as well as “redneck” glasses for $9-13.

“They’re actually pretty cute considering they cross a Mason jar with a stemmed wine base,” said Bloomquist. “They’re guaranteed to get some looks when you take them out.”

For those who find beer is more palatable than wine, Heisen House offers a variety of steins starting at $13. They also have taken old wine bottles and turned them into decorative art that can spice up any kitchen or wine bar.

“The bottles are melted down and then decorated with handmade beads and other things to create original pieces, which we’re offering for $25 each,” Bloomquist said.

Bloomquist added Heisen House can also make customized gift baskets with wine and other goodies like T-shirts, and while Heisen House isn’t going to host any events for the season, they will have tastings every Sat. and Sun. from noon-5 p.m.

“We’ve had a great chance to get to know our neighbors over the last two years as most of our guests are from the area, but we’d love to have some new visitors come out to see us,” said Bloomquist.
