The Clark County Superior Court has appointed a replacement for court commissioner, choosing local attorney Stefanie Ellis to take the position.

The county announced last week the selection of Ellis to the court commissioner position, replacing former commissioner Jennifer Snider who was recently appointed as Clark County Superior Court Judge.

Ellis has practiced law since 2007, having stints as assistant city attorney for Vancouver, a judge pro tem for Clark County District Court and as an owner/partner for Priest and Ellis, a local law firm.

Ellis has a law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane and a bachelor’s degree from Boise State University. She serves as president of the Family Law Section of the Clark County Bar Association, currently serving as treasurer for the whole association as well.

Clark County Superior Court has 10 elected judges, three full-time judicially appointed court commissioners and one part-time commissioner, the release noted. Ellis starts as commissioner July 8, the release stated, adding that court commissioners preside over domestic relations, juvenile and mental health cases.
