County to file injunction against C-TRAN

The Clark County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Wed., Dec. 3, for its prosecuting attorney to file an injunction against C-TRAN to stop the process of taking one seat away from the county on the C-TRAN board of directors, Commissioner David Madore said.

“We assert C-TRAN violated state law by not following the public meeting notice requirement,” he said.

The Composition Review Committee met Nov. 18 and voted to reduce the county’s number of seats on the C-TRAN board from three to two. Madore contends that special committee did not publish in the county’s general circulation newspapers the time, place and topic of the meeting 20 days before the meeting was held, as state law requires. C-TRAN also did not publish the information on its web site, he said.

“This is not an objection to the outcome” of the vote,” he said. “This is saying that whatever C-TRAN does must follow state law.”
