BATTLE GROUND – The Battle Ground Art Alliance expects more than 300 pieces of artwork for their 14th Annual Spring Show and Sale of Fine Arts and Crafts Sat.-Sun., March 21-22.

This juried show and saleis thelargest of its kind in Southwest Washington, according to event organizers, and includes many genres of art mediums, including paintings, jewelry, photography, woodwork, fabric, ceramics and more.

The Spring Art Show and Sale will take place Sat., March 21, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sun., March 22, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main St., Battle Ground. Admission is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome. Attendees will be able to view and purchase art, vote for the People’s Choice award, participate in the silent auction and listen to live music.  A meet-the-artist public reception will be held March 21, with Battle Ground Mayor Shane Bowman presenting awards at 6:30 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to bring donations of canned goods to benefit the North County Community Food Bank.

The Art Show will also include a silent auction featuring 22 artworks donated by BGAA artists. The Auction will be held over both days and will close on Sunday at 1 p.m. In addition, artwork will be offered as raffle prizes during the show.

This year an additional themed exhibit will feature interpretations on the theme “The Spaces in Between.”  This is the third year that a theme has been offered. According to Cheryl Hazen, president of the BGAA, artists are not required to follow the theme in their submissions, but many enjoy the creative challenge of creating a piece of art designed around a theme.

Exhibition at the Art Show and Sale is open to members of the community over age 18. Entry forms and a prospectus are available at the Battle Ground Art Alliance website at www.bgartalliance.com. Artists who would like to display their work should keep in mind that all entries must be prepared for hanging with wire hangers, and size and weight limits apply.

Local performing artists will be providing continuous musical entertainment throughout the show. Monetary donations will be gratefully accepted by musicians who are donating their time and talents for this art event.

Battle Ground Art Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to support and encourage art in our community and to increase public awareness of the arts through exhibitions and community outreach.
