Woodland PD seeking tips in phone theft

Woodland police are asking for help in locating a woman they say may have stolen a smartphone from an empty vehicle in a supermarket parking lot Thursday afternoon.

A witness told officers a woman with two small children walked out of the Woodland Safeway, 1725 Pacific Avenue, at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday, loaded the children into a newer model beige sedan, then reached through the open passenger window of another vehicle and snatched up an iPhone 6 sitting in the car, police said.

The woman left the parking lot before any further information was collected, but store security cameras captured images of the woman as she left the store.

Woodland police released a photograph of the woman Friday afternoon. The photo shows a woman with long reddish-blonde hair wearing a gray sleeveless t-shirt with the words "THERE … NO WAY" in dark lettering across the front. She also wore shorts, sandals and white-rimmed sunglasses and carried a large green or blue purse.

Police are asking anyone with information about the woman or the theft to contact the Woodland Police Department at (360) 225-6965.
