On Oct. 11 U.S. Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, received Pacific Northwest Waterways Association’s (PNWA) “Legislator of the Year” award. PNWA has annually recognized a member of Congress since Since 2005.
“Congresswoman Herrera Beutler has been a leader for the maritime sector, and has been a champion for navigation projects on the Lower Columbia River, Snake River, small ports and many other projects throughout our region,” PNWA said in a news release. “Serving on the House Appropriations Committee and Energy & Water Development Subcommittee, she has also demonstrated strong support for the Corps of Engineers, including the robust funding pots for which our projects compete each year in the workplan process.”
