Gifford Pinchot National Forest seeks concessionaire for campgrounds and recreation sites

Posted

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest is looking for someone to maintain and run 33 campgrounds and recreation sites in the region, requesting proposals for a concessionaire to meet that end.

The National Forest recently announced it sought applications for a concessionaire that would oversee recreation sites located on the Cowlitz Valley, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams Ranger Districts. Gifford Pinchot encouraged applicants to consider new ways to enhance user experiences at existing campgrounds, potentially through “interpretive services, campfire talks, concession-owned yurts, cabins or other overnight camping options.”

An electronic copy of the plan for a concessionaire can be found online at fs.usda.gov/goto/gp/campgrounds or at the Federal Business Opportunities website: fbo.gov.

The concession program provides a way to deliver recreation opportunities to the public and provide business opportunities to those interested in managing recreation sites in the forest.

Complete written applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13. For questions about the prospectus, contact Debbie Terrion, special uses coordinator, at (360) 891-5175 or deborah.terrion@usda.gov.
