Most people won’t find many places that serve breakfast all day, let alone a place that makes their hash browns, french fries and numerous other items completely from scratch.
North Clark County breakfast lovers are in luck, however, as Countree Kitchen & Timbers Saloon, located about 15 minutes from Battle Ground in Amboy, offers all-day breakfast, homemade items and more.
Located at 39813 NE 216th Ave., Amboy, Countree Kitchen & Timbers Saloon was opened almost 10 years ago in 2003 by Edna Kennedy and her daughter Sherrie Fisher. One of the restaurant’s most popular characteristics is that breakfast is offered all hours of the day. The extensive breakfast menu includes a variety of omelettes, chicken fried steak, steak and eggs, corn beef hash, buttermilk pancakes and specials such as the Logger’s Special, which includes three eggs, choice of meat, french toast or pancakes and a choice of toast.
Several other homemade items include old-fashioned milkshakes, several of the salad dressings, their specialty slow-roasted prime rib offered on Fridays and Saturdays and more. Fisher’s mother also makes homemade jams that are for sale at Countree Kitchen, “Jammin’ Granny’s Jams.” Jams are made fresh with seasonal local fruit and flavors, those currently available include strawberry-rhubarb, cranberry-raspberry, apple butter and pear-pinapple.
In addition to the regular menu, Countree Kitchen also offers a children’s menu. Weekly specials include 99 cent tacos/50 cents in the bar on Mondays to go along with Monday night football, barbecue pork ribs, baked beans, fries and coleslaw for $9.99 on Tuesdays, senior meals, all homemade and made in house, on Wednesdays with a suggested donation of $3 to Loaves & Fishes, bigger versions of two junior burgers “fully loaded” for $4 in Timbers Saloon on Thursdays and prime rib night is on Fridays and Saturdays.
On Tuesdays, Timbers Saloon offers Bingo with no buy-in cost, karaoke on Friday nights and more.
“Not only are we located in Amboy right on the corner across from the Amboy Market, we are also right on the way to lakes, snowmobiling, Christmas tree hunting and those kinds of activities,” Fisher said.
Currently, the restaurant is still on summer hours, which are Mon.-Thurs., 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m., Fri., 8 a.m.-10 p.m., Sat., 7 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sun., 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m. The Timbers Saloon opens with the restaurant and closes at midnight Sun.-Thurs. and at 2 a.m. Fri.-Sat.
