A mother and one of her children were sent to Portland hospitals following a single vehicle crash April 20 east of La Center, according to a Clark County Sheriff’s Office news release. The mother was life-flighted after being trapped in the car.
Shortly after 9 a.m. that day sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical service personnel were dispatched to the 5300 block of Northeast Lockwood Creek Road.
The mother was driving a 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser and was westbound when it exited the roadway on the right-hand shoulder, rolling until it hit a tree.
The mother is 36 and her four children are ages 2, 8, 10 and 12.
The 8-year-old was transported via ambulance in critical condition to a Portland hospital. The mother was trapped in the vehicle and required an “extensive extrication” after which she was transported by Life Flight with life-threatening injuries.
The other children were uninjured and released to another parent on scene. The sheriff’s office traffic unit was investigating the crash and its potential causes.
