Residents have multiple ways to weigh in on parks

Clark County is asking residents what they want in their parks system.

The county is working with the seven-member Parks Advisory Board to update a long-range plan that will guide purchase of land for parks and development of parks, trails, sports fields and other amenities.

County residents can participate by taking an online survey that will help set priorities. The survey, which takes about five minutes to complete, is available at www.clark.wa.gov/parks. A video and link to more information are posted on the same page.

In addition, three open houses are scheduled. Representatives from the Parks Advisory Board will attend.

• 5-7 p.m. Tue., March 3, La Center Community Center, 1000 E. Fourth St.                                               

• 5-7 p.m. Wed., March 4, Camas-Washougal Fire Station 42, 4321 N.W. Parker St.

• 5-7 p.m. Thu., March 5, Three Creeks Community Library, 800-C N.E. Tenney Road

The parks plan update is necessary under the state Growth Management Act. 

“We need our community’s help,” said Bill Bjerke, Clark County Parks manager. “The plan is a blueprint for the future, so it’s important for it to reflect our community’s priorities.”

The plan must be approved by the Board of County Councilors.
