Those interested in running for elected office in the Clark County area had the opportunity to file the week of May 11-15. The 2015 primary election will be held Aug. 4, followed by the Nov. 3 general election.
Here is a list of candidates who have filed to run for elected office in the North Clark County area:
Battle Ground City Council
Position No. 2: Shane Bowman (incumbent and is currently mayor); Position No. 3: Steven Douglas Phelps (position is held by Adrian Cortes, not seeking re-election); Position No. 7: Philip Johnson (incumbent and is currently deputy mayor) and Candy Bonneville.
La Center City Council
Position of mayor: Al Luiz (holds position No. 2 and is mayor pro-tem) and Greg Thornton (holds position No. 4). Current mayor Jim Irish is not seeking re-election; Position No. 1: Heather Birdwell-Currey (position is held by Joe Valenzuela); Position No. 4: Joe Valenzuela (position is held by Greg Thornton); Position No. 5: Elizabeth Cerveny (incumbent).
Ridgefield City Council
Position No. 2: David Taylor (incumbent), Maria Salazar and Michael Harris; Position No. 3: Lee Wells (incumbent); Position No. 5: Darren Wertz (incumbent); Position No. 7: Sandra Day (incumbent).
Woodland City Council
Position of mayor: Will Finn (position is held by Grover Laseke, who is not seeking re-election); Position No. 4: Karl Chapman and Grover Laseke (holds position as mayor); Position No. 5: JJ Burke and Susan Humbyrd (incumbent); Position No. 7: Michael Benjamin (incumbent) and Matthew Jacobs.
Town of Yacolt
Position of mayor: Jeff Carothers (incumbent); Position No. 3: Anthony Bronkhorst.
Battle Ground School District Board of Directors
District No. 2: Ken Root (incumbent); District No. 4: Mavis Nickels (incumbent), Dick Rylander and Ben Kapelka.
Hockinson School District Board of Directors
District No. 3: Dave Olson (incumbent); District No. 4: Greg Gospe (incumbent); District No. 5: Katherine Davis (incumbent).
La Center School District Board of Directors
