ESD 112 seeks applicants to fill committee position

The Board of Directors of Educational Service District 112 seeks applications from interested candidates to fill a vacant position on the Regional Committee on School District Organization.

The vacant position to be filled is for District No.1, which includes the following School Districts: part of Kelso (East of the Westside Highway), all of Kalama, Woodland, Green Mountain, La Center; and the part of Battle Ground North of 219th Street.

The Regional Committee positions are filled for a four-year term beginning Jan. 2, 2013 and ending Dec. 31, 2016.



The Regional Committee is a voluntary group of seven citizens representing six southwest Washington counties in Educational Service District 112. The purpose of the Regional Committee is to make decisions regarding the boundaries, consolidation and dissolution of school districts, when the school districts cannot reach an agreement regarding the same, and to adjust school district assets and liabilities when changes in the boundaries are made.

To be eligible, interested applicants must be registered voters that reside in the District which they are applying to represent. Interested applicants may confirm district residency or request an application packet by calling Susan Rahl, ESD 112, (750-7500, ext. 230) and providing their street address and voter precinct number.

The superintendent of public instruction, a member of the state board of education, an educational service district superintendent, a member of a board of directors of a school district, a member of an educational service district board, a member of a governing board of either a private school or a private school district which conducts any grades kindergarten through 12, officers appointed by any such governing board, and employees of a school district, an educational service district, the office of the superintendent of public instruction, a private school, or a private school district are not eligible and should not apply.
