State lawmakers host another Clark County tour Saturday

Washington State 18th Legislative District lawmakers are set to take part in another pre-session Clark County town hall tour, stopping by Washougal, Battle Ground and Ridgefield Saturday, Jan. 4.

State Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center, and state Reps. Brandon Vick, R-Felida and Larry Hoff, R-Vancouver, will repeat a similar countywide town hall trip as they did ahead of last year’s session for a preview of 2020’s time in Olympia which begins Jan. 13.

Specific locations are as follows:

• 10 a.m. at the Port of Camas-Washougal, 24 S A St., Washougal

• 12:30 p.m. at Battle Ground City Hall, 109 SW First St., Battle Ground

• 3 p.m. at Clark County Fire and Rescue, 911 N 65th Ave, Ridgefield

In the announcement for the town halls, Vick said having three separate town halls allowed for greater input from constituents in the district, the one covering the most geography of the five with a presence in Clark County. He said he plans to use what he hears to “continue to push for more government accountability and fiscal responsibility in Olympia.”

“There will also be a number of other important issues to discuss this year, including transportation, education, and new tax proposals,” Vick added in the announcement.

Hoff mentioned in the announcement that the legislative trio took part in nine town halls in 2019.

“From taxes to transportation, homelessness to affordable housing, there is much to discuss,” Hoff stated in the announcement. “I hope 18th District residents will come out and make their voices heard.”

“I’m a big believer in town halls because the people of our district do such a great job of sharing their thoughts. I never fail to come away with a list of ideas and issues that guide my work in Olympia,” Rivers stated in the announcement. She said she had some proposals of her own — “including one that would provide more money for transportation projects without any added taxes, and another to expand the state’s approach to salmon management in a way that would mean more fish for everyone.”

“It’ll be great to get input on those,” Rivers remarked.
