Each year, area churches in Clark and Cowlitz counties hold a number of different events and services to honor and celebrate Easter Sunday and the days surrounding the holiday, including Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. These services commonly reflect on resurrection, joy, peace and hope.
This year, Easter Sunday is April 5, with Good Friday falling on April 3 and Maundy Thursday on April 2. Several area churches offer more than one worship service on Easter Sunday, along with special Good Friday services, as well as a few services or events on Maundy Thursday. Others also hold special services or Easter egg hunts for children, most on Sat., April 4, with some offered on Easter Sunday.
Each year, a group of area churches combine their efforts to hold an Easter Sunrise Service. This year, the service will be held Sun., April 5, 7-8 a.m., once again in the Central Section at Lewisville Park. There is no charge to attend this joint service and the public is invited to attend.
