AFCNA Fiber Collection at Alpacapalooza 2015
Attendees and guests can drop off alpaca fiber at The Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America (AFCNA) collection area during Alpacapalooza show hours.
There is free shipping and they are accepting fiber in bags and/or boxes. Must include a member contribution form in every bag of fleece to receive proper credit.
What fiber is AFCNA calling for in 2015?
Skirted or unskirted fiber Grade 5 (32 micron), or finer. Depending upon each alpacas unique fiber characteristics, this could come from the blanket, britch, leg or neck areas. Staple length 2 - 6 inches.
While AFCNA does accept unskirted fiber contributions, this does not mean that everything you send will be graded as acceptable for contribution credit.
Farms who choose not to skirt their fleeces should expect to see a larger portion of their contribution rejected for credit.
AFCNA is experiencing strong and growing demand for our excellent products made in the U.S. from member fiber which has made it possible for us to distribute ever larger profit distributions.
