C-TRAN announces changes to North County routes

Posted

Those who utilize C-TRAN’s service in Battle Ground, La Center and Ridgefield will have to adjust their schedules in September as the transit authority recently approved changes with the goal of keeping in step with increasing demands.

Battle Ground

One of the changes affects C-TRAN’s Route 7, which runs from the Vancouver Mall transit center north along Fourth Plain Boulevard and Route 503 before turning left on Scotton Way in Battle Ground, taking Southwest 20th Ave, Main Street, Grace Avenue, Rasmussen Boulevard and Parkway Avenue before retracing the route from Main Street to the mall.

The change will make each stop happen every 30 minutes for the majority of weekday times with the last stop happening an hour after the previous one. Currently stops are 45 minutes apart with the last stop being 90 minutes after.

According to staff documents, the reasoning for this switch was to fall more in line with an hourly schedule, avoiding an “irregular” schedule where stops don’t happen the same time every hour.

Ridgefield, La Center

C-TRAN also approved a change to its La Center and Midday connectors, the latter of which also serves Ridgefield. Affecting both cities, the Midday Connector will start service at 9:40 a.m. from the 99th Street transit hub, two hours and 20 minutes earlier than the current noon start.

The Midday Connector has stops at the transit hub, Ridgefield City Center and La Center at 4th Street and Pacific Avenue.

For La Center exclusively, the afternoon route will start 70 minutes earlier, at 3:37 p.m. That route heads from the 99th Street Transit Center and the La Center Park & Ride.

According to staff documents, the goal of the changes was to “improve efficiency, safety and quality of service,” in-line with C-TRAN’s mission statement. The start date for the changes is Sept. 9.
